Divya is a Certified Nutrition Consultant and Culinary Educator. She is the author of What to Eat for How You Feel: The New Ayurvedic Kitchen. She co-founded Bhagavat Life, an Ayurvedic culinary school and Divya's Kitchen, an Ayurvedic restaurant in Manhattan which was established in October 2016 and for 2 years in a row has been named one of the 50 best vegetarian restaurants in the USA. OpenTable Awards recognized her restaurant as the Best Healthy Restaurant in Manhattan and the Tri-State Area, 10 Best Overall Restaurants in New York City, 2018 Diners Choice Award. It is also listed in the top 10 Best Vegan Restaurants in New York, by New York Magazine.
Divya is a vegetarian and has been cooking for over 27 years now. Her cooking is based on the ancient principles of Shaka Vansiya (SV) Ayurveda, which teaches us how to link our physical and mental needs with foods and seasonings that will balance us. She studied Ayurveda for 5 years in India and this helped her cure digestive issues, chronic fatigue and an autoimmune disorder. She believes that food is much more than a means of sustenance. She has taught over thousands of people how to cook and experience pure, sumptuous food at home.
